Finding Ways to Brighten Up

The weather has gotten cold again, and it's a huge downer on the weekends when I look forward to being outside and enjoying the sun. Until Spring is really here to stay, I've found it's helpful to find little things to encourage the sunshine.

I'm really into the trendy colors everyone is wearing this Spring. It may be too cold to wear a swingy dress or sleeveless top, but adding pops of color in other ways will keep me going until the weather warms.

On Saturday, it rained. All day. I snuck in a soccer game in the morning, but from 12 pm on, Chase and I snuggled up on the couch and watched episode after episode of Downtown Abbey. The scenery is beautiful, the cast is glamorous, and I love the idea of sitting down to dinner in tea gowns and bow-ties. I definitely wouldn't last long in that era considering I eat dinner most nights on my IKEA couch wearing sweat pants.

Friday night we had a work party at Penn, and I walked away from the gift exchange with the cutest Orla Kiely pencils and paper. I immediately stuck the notepad in my everyday bag for last minute thoughts or notes I want to capture.  I love the pattern!

Earlier in the week, one of my co-workers returned from his trip to Paris with chocolates in hand. The colored eggs are very "Easter appropriate" and definitely better than any chocolate I have tasted in America.

I saw a girl wearing neon green jeans on the subway today, and I feel the colored denim trend can be a tad extreme. I'm fearful of neon anything splashed across my butt, but when I saw mint green cropped jeans at Zara on Sunday, I had to have them.

The same day I found my mint jeans, I also spotted a bright tote at Anthropologie-on sale!  While I think the pattern on my new tote is a little busy for everyday use, I thought it would be fun for brightening up a neutral jacket from time to time.
